Come Pack Meals for Haiti! Thurs. April 8th 5-7pm

CHILD HUNGER: Every six seconds a child dies because of hunger and related causes (Source: State of Food Insecurity in the World, FAO, 2004) 10.9 million children under five die in developing countries each year. Malnutrition and hunger-related diseases cause 60 percent of the deaths (Source: The State of the World’s Children, UNICEF, 2007).

This challenge is greater than one man and his vision. This challenge is greater than one organization. It will take all of our combined efforts to address this most pressing issue. The problem is not finding volunteers, or one of logistics, although these are real issues. We have the food solution. The real problem is finding the funding necessary to achieve the goal. We must continue to raise awareness of the issue of world hunger, specifically how it is affecting the children of the world, so that the resources that are available can be focused on what is arguably the most pressing issue of our time: that of STARVATION!

CFU Soccer Club is inviting the Central Florida Soccer Community to come together and bring their spare change out to Central Winds Park in Winter Springs on Thursday, April 8, 2010 from 5 to 7PM. We will be joined by the Mexico Women’s Full National Soccer Team and the UCF Women’s Soccer Team to prepare and package meals for Change This World to benefit the people of Haiti.

Our goal is to raise enough money to prepare and package approximately 100,000 meals. For example, the cost to prepare, package and ship:
100 meals is $25
200 meals is $50
400 meals is $100
4,000 meals is $1,000

We can reach our goal if we all come together and do our part…so mark the date on your calendar, bring your change and say no to starvation and hunger in the world!!

Change This World is the Central Florida Branch of Kids Against Hunger. The mission of Kids Against Hunger, a humanitarian food-aid organization, is to significantly reduce the number of hungry children in the USA and to feed starving children throughout the world. The organization’s approach to achieving its goal – the eradication of world hunger – includes the packaging of a highly nutritious, vitamin-fortified soy-rice casserole by volunteers at numerous locations within the USA and Canada, and the distribution of those meals to starving children and their families in over 60 countries through partnerships with humanitarian organizations worldwide.
Please make checks payable to Kids Against Hunger.

We look forward to seeing you on the 8th of April!
