Lehigh Acres Kiwanis Club packs 65,006 meals

275 volunteers from the Lehigh Acres Kiwanis Club packed 65,006 meals for the hungry. What was neat about this particular packing event is that not only will the food be going abroad to help those in need but it will also be distributed to local food pantries to help the hungry here. Lehigh Kiwansis president Damon Shelor was excited about the day’s event remarking that, “It’s encouraging to see all the people come out for a community function and help the needy.” The Kiwanis Club had been working for over 8 weeks to raise money for the meals through car washes and pancake dinners. A special thank you to Publix, Winn-Dixie, Sweetbay and Atomi Tom’s for donating goods for the hardworking volunteers lunch.
