You have questions … we have answers. We have compiled the most commonly asked questions about Change This World and hunger issues. Don’t see what you are looking for? We want to hear from you. Please see our CONTACT section.
Q) How was the food formula developed and what is so special about it?
A) See the Food and Nutrition section here.
Q) How do you decide where the meals will be sent?
A) Each year, we aim to meet our meal commitments to our community partners who are using these meals to feed children on a daily basis. In addition to meeting our existing commitments, CTW provides food to various other organizations on a case by case basis, determined by need. This is subject to food availability and import approval from the government in the recipient country. We will provide meals only to trusted organizations that will distribute the food properly and freely.
Q) How does the food get there?
A) Meals are palletized and shipped via cargo containers. Containers are shipped unmarked without CTW identification to avoid any suspicion of humanitarian aid. This prevents our containers from being targeted by governments or individuals and used in ways other than their intended purpose. CTW has not had a container compromised to date.
Q) What is CTW’s relationship with local governments and NGOs?
A) CTW is a non-partisan, non-governmental, 501(c)3 organization. CTW seeks only to partner with organizations that operate with governmental approval and acknowledgment in all countries in which they are active.
Q) Do you provide food aid for families in the U.S.?
A) Yes. Our primary focus is on feeding children abroad, but we also have ongoing feeding projects in the U.S. These projects currently provide weekly food going home with children in the public school system who have been identified as living below poverty and often times from homeless families.
About Meal Packing Events:
Q) Are there any age limitations to packaging food?
A) There are opportunities for nearly every age to participate at a food packing event, but we do recommend that each participant on the assembly line be at least 5 years old.
Q) How many volunteers does it take to package meals?
A) Ideally you will need at least 12 people to package the meals in our assembly line format. Each assembly line can package an average of 2,500 meals per hour. Depending on the goal number of meals and/or volunteers you hope for will determine the amount of time it will take to reach your goal. We can help you figure this out!
Q) How long will it take to package 50,000 meals?
A) From start to finish, all meals can be packaged within 5 hours including set up and tear down of the assembly lines. Yes, that’s incredibly efficient!
Q) Can CTW help secure media coverage for my event?
A) Unfortunately we are unable to provide media relations assistance for events you are planning, but please feel free to seek coverage on your own. If someone would like to interview a CTW staff member, please e-mail email@example.com to set this up.
About Hunger and Malnutrition
Q) Why Food?
A) Read these statistics and you will understand: The most recent estimates released by FAO project that 1.02 BILLION people in the world are undernourished! 1.02 billion people is 15 percent of the worldwide population of 6.8 billion! Of those 8 million die each year directly related to starvation. That?s 23,483 per day. 1 every 3 seconds!
Q) Why use this particular formula for food?
A) Our formula has been formulated by food scientists to provide a rich source of easily digestible protein, carbohydrates, and vitamins needed by a malnourished person’s body and mind. The food also accommodates to the broad diversity of ethnic tastes and religious differences around the world. Our formula offers all nine of the essential amino acids required for complete nutrition – something that can’t be said about other typical food relief sources such as rice or beans alone. The beauty of the food formulation is its simplicity. It is made from four readily available, dry ingredients that are easy to package, keep for long periods, and require only boiling with water to prepare. Despite the simplicity of the food’s content, it is a nutritionally complex and a well-balanced meal.
Q) Where do you get your facts on Starvation?

- World Health Organization: http://www.who.int
- United Nations: World Food Program: http://www.wfp.org/hunger/stats
